Starting off the list is Auburn. The Tigers, who only won three games this season, trailed only THE Ohio State and Alabama as the biggest spenders per win -- a cool $3,433,053.

No surprise the Southeastern Conference, which has crowned six national title winners, has the most teams among the top 10. The average FBS, formerly Division I, football program brought in about $25 million. The lowest money earner in college football was the University of Louisiana at Monroe, with $3.6 million in profits. That wouldn't pay the coach's salary in some teams in the top 10. Here they are:

Ogwumike helps No. 1 Stanford beat Pacific 78-43

Chiney Ogwumike knew she would be replacing a pretty good player this season in her older sister, Nnemkadi. She took it upon herself to work on things that would help fill the void. So far it's been smooth sailing. Chiney Ogwumike scored a career-high 31 points to go with 13 ...

Colorado lands San Jose State's Mike MacIntyre

Mike MacIntyre's inaugural meeting with his new team lasted just long enough to leave his players with this thought: He's turned around one downtrodden program and he can do the same at Colorado. Not someday, either, but starting next season. The 47-year-old coach revived a San Jose State football team ...

Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel became the first freshman to win the Heisman Trophy. Manziel led the Aggies to a 10-2 in their first season in the SEC and orchestrated an upset at then-No. 1 Alabama. But how did his record SEC season of 3,419 passing yards and 24 touchdowns, plus 1,181 yards rushing and 19 more scores stack up against college football's other top signal callers? | Year in review |
