(Sports Network) - ARKANSAS STATE: The Red Wolves were off this past week, as they prepare for the second-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide this coming weekend. ASU was last in action on October 18th, when it suffered a 28-23 loss at UL-Lafayette. It was the second setback in the past three games for the Red Wolves, who are 4-3 on the year.

FLORIDA ATLANTIC: Rusty Smith threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Cortez Gent with 20 seconds remaining, lifting the Owls to a dramatic 29-28 win over UL- Monroe this past weekend. Smith passed for 267 yards and pair of scores and added another on the ground, as FAU overcame a 21-0 deficit in the first half for its second win in a row. Gent was on the receiving end of both touchdown passes and he finished the game with five catches for 73 yards. The Owls totaled 418 yards of offense in the game and that helped compensate for three turnovers and 10 penalties. Now at 1-2 within the league, FAU will enjoy a week off before returning to play against North Texas on November 8th.

FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL: The Panthers were idle this past week after dropping a 33-23 decision at Troy on October 18th. The loss snapped a three-game win streak and marked the team's first loss in three league outings. Despite the setback, FIU has already improved greatly this season, considering it had won just one of its prior 24 games entering the 2008 campaign. The Panthers will try to build on their 3-4 overall mark when they challenge UL-Lafayette this weekend.

MIDDLE TENNESSEE: Joe Craddock threw for 235 yards and a touchdown, but it wasn't enough for the Blue Raiders in a 31-22 loss at Mississippi State this past weekend. Eldred King was clearly his favorite target, pulling down 11 balls for 164 yards and a touchdown. Phillip Tanner toted eight times for 29 yards and a score, as MT dropped its third straight game. The Raiders managed only 80 yards on the ground in the contest, while Mississippi State went for 169 yards. MT will now have the week off to regroup before facing off against UL-Monroe on November 8th.

NORTH TEXAS: The Mean Green turned the ball over four times and were outgained, 547-338, in a 45-17 loss to Troy this past weekend. Giovanni Vizza threw for 246 yards and a touchdown, but was picked off three times in the setback. He completed 31-of-52 tosses, as North Texas remained winless at 0-8. Cam Montgomery paced the ground attack with 92 yards and a score on 16 totes, while Casey Fitzgerald led the team with 14 catches for 113 yards and a score. Fitzgerald now has 194 career receptions to his credit and that is a new Mean Green record. North Texas will step out of conference play this weekend to tangle with Western Kentucky.

TROY: The Trojans rolled up 547 yards of total offense, as they easily defeated North Texas, 45-17, over the weekend. It was the third straight win for Troy, which remained undefeated in conference play at 4-0. Levi Brown, making just his second start for Troy, completed an efficient 40-of-50 tosses for 391 yards and two scores. Brown did a great job replacing starter Jamie Hampton, who is out with an injury. Jerrel Jernigan pulled down nine balls for 123 yards and a score in the win, while DuJuan Harris ran for 34 yards and a pair of touchdowns on eight carries. Jorrick Calvin even returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown, and the Trojans' defense forced four turnovers. Troy will try to remain atop the league standings this weekend, when it takes on UL-Monroe.

UL-LAFAYETTE: The Ragin' Cajuns enter this weekend's bout versus FIU with a lot of momentum, as they have posted victories in each of their last three outings. ULL currently sits at 3-0 in conference play, trailing only Troy (4-0) for first place. The Cajuns are paced by the conference's top two rushers in tailback Tyrell Fenroy (970 yards) and quarterback Michael Desormeaux (708), who are the main reasons for the team's healthy average of 311.7 rushing yards per game. Desormeaux however, has been hobbled by a sprained knee and could miss his second straight game this weekend.

UL-MONROE: The Warhawks allowed nine unanswered points over the last five-plus minutes, as they dropped a 29-28 decision to FAU over the weekend. ULM blew a 21-point lead in the first half before watching FAU kick a field goal late in the fourth quarter and win the game on a touchdown pass with 20 seconds left. Kinsmon Lancaster paced the Warhawks in defeat by completing 22-of-28 tosses for 216 yards and three touchdowns. He also led the way with 86 yards on 14 carries. Darrell McNeal caught a touchdown and ran for another, as ULM dipped to 1-3 in conference play. The Warhawks will try to pick up the pieces and rebound against first place Troy this coming weekend.
