Heavy-Psych Band Returns To Bay Area

As veteran purveyors of interstellar stoner rock, SoCal power trio Nebula has been dealing its brand of fuzzed-out psychedelic heaviness since first forming in 1997. Founded by onetime Fu Manchu members Eddie Glass (guitar/vocals) and Ruben Romano (drums), Nebula first made waves with a series of EP releases showcased a style that drew equally on the droning sonic vistas of Hawkwind, the acid-damaged proto-metal of Blue Cheer and the raw, aggressive Motor City sounds of The Stooges.Full-length albums for such labels as Sub Pop and Liquor and Poker would follow as the band established a reputation as a live powerhouse with a nearly constant touring schedule. Though Glass has remained the sole constant in the band (the current line-up includes former Mondo Generator and Karma To Burn drummer Rob Oswald and bassist Tom Davies), Nebula has stayed true to its original vision. The group's latest effort for Tee Pee Records, 'Heavy Psych,' lives up to its title with yet another lysergic dose of distortion-fueled songs that brings the effect-laden, space-rock atmospheres to the fore. The band returns to the Bay Area to headline these two shows at the Blank Club in San Jose and Annie's Social Club in San Francisco. The band is joined by Santa Cruz stoner-metal outfit Dusted Angel and Radio Moscow, a talented Iowa-based power trio that recently relocated to Eureka. The band's sophomore release on Alive Records entitled 'Brain Cycles' stands as one of the better neo-psych effort of 2009.Nebula
