Country-Punk Favorites Land At Slim's

Equally adept at bashing out metal-influenced punk or delivering sleazy honky tonk, the Supersuckers have been demolishing stages and leaving ears ringing since first coming together in 1988. The band got signed to Sub Pop in the early '90s and was unfairly lumped in with many morose rock outfits associated with the label during the grunge movement.Boasting an array of crushing yet hook-laden guitar riffs straight from the AC/DC school of hard rock and a twisted sense of humor, the Supersuckers definitely stood out from most of the grunge pack. A initial flirtation with country in 1996 (recording a track for 'Twisted Willie,' a punky Willie Nelson tribute) led the band to actually backing the country legend for a live television appearance as well as recording a number of gritty cowpunk albums on their own. The band comes back to play for its loyal contingent of Bay Area fans at Slim's to play songs from its latest rollicking effort 'Get It Together' on Wednesday night. Chicago glam punks Last Vegas and Cockpit also appear.Supersuckers
