Jimmy Buffett Over the past 30 years, songwriter Jimmy Buffett and his laid-back style of tropically flavored folk-rock with a party-hearty attitude have gradually earned the singer a large cult of loyal fans who have made him one of the most successful and diversified rock entrepeneurs ever.
Buffett first tried his hand at country music in Nashville during the late 1960s, but in the next decade he cultivated his wayfaring island troubadour persona with tropically tinged efforts like 'White Sport Coat and a Pink Crustacean' and 'Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes.' The latter album featured his biggest hit, "Margaritaville," which succinctly captured Buffett's relaxed worldview.
Though he has never matched the sales of that album, Buffett's most recent album, 'Take The Weather With You,' topped the U.S. pop albums chart for the first time in his three-decade career. His annual tours are sold-out affairs packed with the dedicated Hawiian-shirt clad revelers often referred to as "Parrotheads" (a nod to the Grateful Dead's diehard followers). Buffett wisely diversified his Gulf Coast lifestyle into a line of clothes, a chain of Florida-based Margaritaville clubs and a successful second career as an author, eventually becoming one of the highest-paid entertainers in the business. Buffett and his Coral Reefer Band deliver an overview of greatest hits to an enthusiastic audience at this Tuesday night show.Mountain ViewShoreline Amphitheatre8 p.m.$30.50-$130.5010/21/200810/21/2008MusicRock
