Mr. Jackson chose to celebrate the well-traveled Spanish pilgrimage route known as the Camino de Santiago de Campostela. Accompanied by cello and percussion, the 30-minute work incorporates an eclectic array of texts, including portions of the Codex Calixtinus, the antiphon from the Feast of St. James, a speech by President John Adams, and poems by William Cowper, Walt Whitman, and Emily Dickinson. The result is a powerful statement using a very accessible, tonal musical language. In the second half of the program, in juxtaposition to the modern Jackson work, the chorus will sing double-choir motets by Victoria, as well as motets by Bach, Brahms, and Rheinberger. $5-$25
