Join us to see the elephant seals of Ano Nuevo.  "..Perhaps the most compelling attraction for human visitors to Año Nuevo State Reserve is the large colony of northern elephant seals that assembles here each winter. So named because of their large size and long pendulous noses on the males. These large animals spend most of their lives at sea, coming ashore only to molt, to give birth, and to mate. Males battle for mates on the beaches.  Females give birth to their pups on the dunes.  Prime seal pup birth months are January/February..." www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=1115 This is a strenuous 3-mile hike over sand dunes. The hike is guided by a docent. Tickets:  The guided walk takes place rain or shine.  Children under 3 are free.  No ticket exchanges or refunds for cancellations, no shows or late arrivals.  Parking:   $10.What to Bring:  Winter weather is extremely unpredictable.  Be prepared for windy, rainy conditions, as well as muddy trails.  Wear a warm jacket, layered clothing, and sturdy shoes.   Rain gear is strongly advised.  Bring only bottled water for drinking on the trail. You may bring a snack/ lunch for before or after the walk.OK to bring cameras or binoculars.
