classModern Javascript & JQuery for Front End Designers Saturday, January 19th from 9:30am - 12:30pmJonathan Yankovich, Full-Stack Web DeveloperThis workshop is designed for web designers who want to be taken seriously as front-end developers.Through lecture and hands-on activity, participants will gain experience with the basics of using Javascript and JQuery to update the appearance and content of a web page in real time.During the activity, HTML and CSS files will be provided. Guided by the instructor, students will add JQuery and AJAX calls to add interactivity to the page and develop a simple application that updates content dynamically from a server.Student Takeaways:- How to Incorporate Jquery into a web site.- How to read documentation to get the answers you need.- How to communicate with a web server using AJAX & JSON. - How dynamically animate and update web pages.- How to use online resources to continue to improve your skills.Level & Prerequisites:Intermediate. Participants are assumed to have experience with writing HTML and CSS without the assistance of a graphical editor (i.e. Dreamweaver). You should be comfortable looking at HTML source code, inspecting web pages and making changes to existing HTML and CSS. Knowledge of templating is helpful. Cut-and-paste experience with Javascript/Jquery is a plus.Required Materials: Laptop, Chrome Web Browser (free download), Sublime Text 2 text editor (free download). Additional materials will be downloaded during class.Jonathan Yankovich is a full-stack serial startup developer and entrepreneur. In the past year he launched three startups in San Francisco including Last5, Objectiveli, and GetArtUp. He often works with seed-funded startups to help to realize their applications under tight constraints. Previously, Jonathan worked with NGO’s and projects relating to civic responsibility with New Amsterdam Ideas, a think tank in New York City. Jonathan also ran coworking spaces in the midwest before moving to San Francisco in 2011.___
