Design for Well-BeingMarch 6th and 13th, 2013 9:00 to 5:00pm each dayPeople who are happier generally experience more success in their work lives. This is particularly important for leaders and managers given their influence in organizations.This hands-on, Intensive Course will help you to leverage the power of designing for greater well-being in your personal and organizational life.After completing the class, you will:Understand the factors that contribute to well-being and it’s link to sustainabilityBe familiar with design thinking and its applicationHave explored several personal and organizational strategies for greater well-being.The course will be taught in two sessions. In the first session, participants will define, discover, and map their personal well-being and the role it plays in their organization. Participants will also plan practices in well-being to be undertaken between the two sessions. In the second session, participants will debrief their experience, investigate the issues that constrain well being, and take those issues through the design process to search for efficient and effective strategies.Who Should Attend:People in leadership and managerial rolesPeople seeking more balance and fulfillmentTopics will include:Defining well-beingDiscovering your personal well-beingThe Design ProcessDesigning a strategyThe Good Life as defined throughout historyFindings from positive psychology and neuroscience including the role of wealth and choiceThe role of well-being at work and for organizations About the Instructors:Beth Meredith and Eric StormEric Storm and Beth Meredith run Create The Good Life which promotes personal and organizational change through building awareness, designing for well being, and creating sustainable practices. Eric has a background in fine art, education, sustainability, and green building. He has worked in Japan and in the U.S. leading cross-cultural education programs. Beth's background is in social psychology, art, architecture and design. She also has an M.A. is Policy Studies from the Monterey Institute of International Studies and has designed and led educational programs internationally and in the U.S. In addition they have trained in Permaculture Design, home energy modeling, mediation, the Enneagram, and Systemic Constellation. In 2000 Eric and Beth became Co-Directors of Sustainable Sonoma County, a nonprofit offering sustainability education to individuals, businesses, and local government. From 2004 to 2010 they ran Living Spaces, a green home design firm in Portland, Oregon.
