Description Philanthropic gifts represent a solution to the crisis in funding for academic medical centers. This session will prepare you to maximize your success in securing philanthropic support for your department. We have a window of opportunity in which we can leverage the momentum of the Campaign for Stanford Medicine. We all need to be prepared to make the most of it. Our instructor will be Dr. Clifford Harris, who practiced primary care pediatrics for ten years before entering the development profession. With his experience as a physician and fundraiser, he will share his insights into the ways donors think about their giving and will provide us with practical tools for comfortably engaging with them within the context of a medical relationship. Objectives 1) Learn how donors think about their giving2) Understand the role of patient-facing staff in the fundraising process3) Learn how to work with the Medical Center Development office to help your grateful patients become grateful donors
