Description: APD Disaster Healthcare Worker/Responder Preparedness & Resilience Program assists healthcare and other community partners in organizational planning for response and continuity planning. Outcome: Developing and maximizing disaster healthcare worker/responder resilience capabilities mitigates the negative health (including mental health) outcomes (i.e. depression, post-traumatic stress, anxiety and substance abuse) that creates barriers in the ability and willingness for healthcare workers/responders to perform during and after mass casualty incidents and large-scale disasters. These barriers can also have a direct effect on rebuilding organizational systems (including healthcare) to their pre-incident levels of function.
