MRI On Jones Reveals Fluid, Tear In Cartilage

POSTED: 8:47 am PDT May 20, 2008

(Sports Network) - An MRI exam revealed fluid and a soft tear in the cartilage of the right knee of Los Angeles Dodgers center fielder Andruw Jones.

The injury will likely sideline him for the rest of this week's series with the Cincinnati Reds, according to the team Web site. Jones is set to be re- evaluated on Friday before the Dodgers host a three-game series with the St. Louis Cardinals.

A 10-time Gold Glover, Jones is 4-for-26 with eight strikeouts and three RBI in his last name games. The four-time All-Star is batting .167 with two home runs and seven RBI in his first year in Los Angeles. Jones signed a two-year, $36.2 million contract in the offseason after spending 12 years with the Atlanta Braves.
