Milwaukee, WI -- (Sports Network) - J.J. Hardy finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, as Milwaukee stayed alive in the playoffs with a 4-1 win over Philadelphia in Game 3 of their National League Division Series from Miller Park.Jason Kendall added two hits and also knocked in a run for the Brewers, who were facing elimination in the best-of-five set. In addition, it was the franchise's first postseason win since October 17, 1982 -- in Game 5 of the World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals. Milwaukee has the opportunity to knot the series on Sunday, as Game 4 is slated for 1:07 p.m. (et). Jeff Suppan is scheduled to take the mound for the Brewers, facing Philadelphia's Joe Blanton. Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder each drove in a run, while starter Dave Bush (1-0) scattered five hits and allowed a run over 5 1/3 innings. Salomon Torres survived a scare in the ninth to record the save. "When I'm out on the field, I'm a player," Bush said when asked if he got satisfaction out of beating the team he followed as a kid. "To me, it doesn't matter who we're facing. It's my first experience in the playoffs, so I would have taken it against just about anybody." Ryan Howard knocked in the lone run for the Phillies, who failed to end the series. They're still a win away from reaching the National League Championship Series for the first time since 1993. Jayson Werth doubled, tripled and scored in the loss. Jamie Moyer (0-1) lasted only four innings, allowing four hits and a pair of runs, walking three and fanning three. He threw 90 pitches in his outing, the shortest since a three-inning start in an August 26 loss to the Mets. "I threw a lot of balls around the plate," said Moyer. "I didn't get some calls. I didn't make them swing the bat." Facing a two-run deficit, Clay Condrey entered for Moyer in the fifth and quickly got into trouble. He walked Mike Cameron then allowed a single to Bill Hall, which put runners on the corners. Braun lifted a ball to left for a sacrifice fly and a 3-0 game. Fielder was given a free pass then Hardy lined out and Corey Hart drew a walk to load the bases. The fiery right-hander froze Craig Counsell with a called third strike to keep it a three-run game. Werth began the sixth with a triple that bounced out of Hart's glove as he crashed into the right-field wall. Chase Utley popped out and Bush exited for Mitch Stetter. He allowed an RBI groundout from Howard before departing. Carlos Villanueva came on and retired Pat Burrell on a grounder to third. Milwaukee squandered a chance to increase its lead in its turn at the plate. Consecutive one-out hits by Villanueva, Cameron and Hall off Chad Durbin loaded the bases. Braun struck out swinging and Scott Eyre retired Fielder on a fly out to left. Villanueva retired the side in order in the seventh, and the Brewers tacked on one more in the home half on Kendall's run-scoring single for a 4-1 advantage. Eric Gagne allowed a two-out double to Werth in the following Philadelphia at- bat, but retired Utley on a fly out to end the inning. Torres yielded singles to Howard, pinch-hitter Greg Dobbs and Shane Victorino to start the ninth. Pedro Feliz followed by grounding into a 5-4-3 double play that appeared to score Howard and cut the Phillies' deficit to 4-2. However, Victorino was called for interference when he did not slide into second in an attempt to break up the play. After a brief conference of the umpiring crew spurred by Brewers manager Dale Sveum, Howard was summoned back to third, Dobbs returned to second and the run was wiped off the board. Carlos Ruiz then grounded meekly to the mound for the final out. "I was trying to make sure they got the play right," Sveum said. "The crack coaching staff should take the credit for that one. They watched the double play and alerted me. Fortunately, they (the umpires) got it right, the rule was correct." The game did not start out well for the visitors. Moyer walked Cameron and Hall to begin the home first, and a wild pitch with Braun at the plate moved both runners into scoring position. Braun fouled out to third, then Fielder's long fly to right scored Cameron. Hardy's single scored Hall for a 2-0 lead before Hart went down swinging. "These guys knew what they had to do with Moyer on the mound," Sveum admitted. "They had to be patient, and they were. The guys gained a lot of confidence today by doing that. Hopefully that pays off over the next two ball games." In the second, the Phils wasted Howard's leadoff double, and Jimmy Rollins' two-out ground-rule double also failed to turn into a run in the third. Those missed opportunities came back to haunt the club later. "We've played 27 innings of baseball and have only scored in three innings, noted Phillies manager Charlie Manuel. "That's kind of the way it goes at times, there's nothing much I can do about it." Game Notes The Brewers pounded out 11 hits in the win, after collecting seven hits combined over the first two games...Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks left the game in the third inning with sprained left knee...Seven teams have rebounded from an 0-2 deficit to win a series, and the 1982 Brewers were one of those clubs, after taking down the California Angels in that year's ALCS...Utley finished 1-for-4 in the game, and is only 2-for-12 with two RBI in the postseason.
