Youkilis Leaves With Triceps Injury

POSTED: 5:03 pm PDT July 13, 2008

(Sports Network) - Boston Red Sox All-Star Kevin Youkilis left Sunday's 2-1 win against the Baltimore Orioles with a left triceps contusion after getting hit in the arm by a Daniel Cabrera pitch in the fifth inning.

Youkilis, who had a grand slam and a career-high six runs batted in during Saturday's 12-1 Red Sox win, was replaced at third base by Jed Lowrie. Subsequent X-Rays were negative.

"He's ok. He got hit in the funny bone and at the time, he didn't feel real good, and just checking with him now, he's ok," Red Sox manager Terry Francona said after Sunday's game.

The veteran, who is scheduled start at first base for the American League in the upcoming All-Star Game, is hitting .314 with 15 home runs and 63 RBI this season.
