Hamilton Leads Rangers Over Mariners

Arlington, TX -- (Sports Network) - Josh Hamilton went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs, while Hank Blalock had a pair of hits to go with two RBI, as the Texas Rangers edged the Seattle Mariners, 6-4, in the middle contest of a three-game set.Gerald Laird went 3-for-4 and had an RBI for the Rangers, who have won two of three. Brandon McCarthy (1-0) got the win after lasting six frames and yielding just two runs on four hits while fanning four. Frank Francisco struck out the side in the ninth for his third save of the year. Yuniesky Betancourt had a solo homer for the Mariners, who saw their four-game win streak halted. Raul Ibanez recorded a pair of RBI in defeat. Ryan Feierabend (0-2) was saddled with the loss after giving up five runs on 11 hits over 5 2/3 innings. Seattle grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Jeremy Reed clubbed a one-out double, moved to third on Adrian Beltre's single and crossed home on an Ibanez sacrifice fly to left. Texas answered with two runs in the home half of the first. Joaquin Arias led off with a single, Michael Young followed with a double and both scored when Hamilton slapped a single back up the middle. Nelson Cruz laced a triple to left and scored on Laird's single in the second for a 3-1 Texas edge. Back-to-back two-out doubles from Milton Bradley and Blalock gave the Rangers a 4-1 cushion in the third. Betancourt's two-out solo blast made it 4-2 in the fifth. Bradley led off the sixth with a double and scored when Blalock followed with a single. Hamilton's single off Justin Thomas in the seventh scored Arias, who reached on a walk, as Texas held a 6-2 lead. Ichiro Suzuki led off the eighth with a double off of Bill White, who was recalled before the game, and scored three batters later on an Ibanez single. Jose Lopez followed with an RBI double to left, which pulled the M's within 6-4. Game Notes Prior to the game, Texas placed pitcher Doug Mathis on the 15-day disabled list...Also before the game, the Mariners recalled pitchers Mark Lowe, Brandon Morrow and Jared Wells and catcher Rob Johnson from Triple-A Tacoma. The club also selected the contract of infielder Matt Tuiasosopo from Tacoma and transferred infielder Willie Bloomquist from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list. Lowe recorded the final out of the seventh inning and Wells recorded just one out and gave up a run on one hit and two walks in Tuesday's setback. Johnson took over at catcher for Seattle in the seventh, but was pinch-hit for in the ninth...The Mariners' four wins in a row was a season-high...Texas has won nine of its 16 matchups with the Mariners this season...Hamilton leads the majors with 121 RBI.
