NOVATO, Calif. (KTVU) - The Novato Space Festival begins Saturday morning with legendary astronauts sharing their stories of moon landings and weightless flights in space.
At the museum you can check out a model of John Glenn's friendship 7 space capsule that flew in 1962, and it is to scale, meaning this is the original size of the castle. The cockpit is fairly small. Astronauts were shorter back then so it wouldn't fit anyone taller than 5'6".
There are also authentic astronaut gloves on display which visitors are allowed to touch.
The Novato Space Festival takes place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors will be able to meet legendary atstronauts and see a lunar module and a luner rover.
VIP guests inlcude astronauts Charlie Duke, Al Worden, Dan Bursh, Gregory H. Johnson and Yvonne Cagle.
The museum is located at 464 Ignacio Blvd. in Novato. Parking and admission are free.
