Posted: 4:15 am PST December 28, 2004

Mickael Pietrus scored a career-high 24 points and Troy Murphy racked up 16 points and 16 rebounds to lead Golden State to a 104-101 comeback victory over Denver at the Arena in Oakland.``I'm very happy,'' Pietrus said. ``The most important thing for me is the team and the way we're playing right now.''

Jason Richardson had 18 points and seven rebounds for the Warriors, who blew a 14-point second-quarter lead before rallying in the final eight minutes. Derek Fisher chipped in 15 points as Golden State put together its first three-game win streak of the season.

Andre Miller recorded 21 points and 14 assists for the Nuggets, who played without injured stars Carmelo Anthony and Kenyon Martin. Nene added 19 points and Marcus Camby compiled 16 points and 12 boards in Denver's sixth straight defeat.

Anthony missed his fifth straight outing with a sprained ankle, while Martin sat out after straining his back in Sunday's loss to Dallas.

The Warriors used a 13-0 run to climb out of a seven-point deficit with eight minutes left. A layup by Pietrus near the midway point of the fourth quarter tied the contest at 87-87 and Murphy scored on the next trip down the court to send Golden State in front. Richardson then netted back-to-back baskets for a 93-87 advantage with under four minutes to go.``We're real close. We're getting there,'' Richardson said. ``We want to build a winning streak, and we have the opportunity to build one.''

Golden State held a seven-point cushion, 102-95, with 25 seconds left, but Rodney White hit two three-pointers around a made free throw by Fisher to pull Denver within 103-101 with four seconds on the clock. The Nuggets then immediately fouled Clifford Robinson, who hit one of two foul shots for the final margin. Earl Boykins' desperation heave at the buzzer fell off the mark.

The Nuggets trailed 61-56 with seven minutes left in the third quarter but scored five straight points to pull even. After a basket from Nene brought Denver to within three, Miller was fouled when converting a layup with 6:39 to go in the period, then promptly sank the bonus attempt.

Golden State went back ahead when Richardson hit one of two foul shots, but DeMarr Johnson's layup started a 6-0 Nuggets run with put the visitors ahead 67-62 with just under five minutes remaining in the quarter.

Denver, which outscored the Warriors 32-22 during the third stanza, took a 78-72 advantage on Nikoloz Tskitishvili jumper with 41 seconds on the clock, but Fisher buried a three-pointer 17 seconds later to cut Golden State's deficit to three heading into the final 12 minutes.

The teams played to a 26-26 deadlock after one quarter of play, but the Warriors began to assume control in the second. After opening up a 42-37 lead, Golden State reeled off nine consecutive points to take command. Robinson began the spurt with a three-pointer and Murphy netted the final four points of the run, including a tip-in with 2:34 before intermission which put the hosts in front 51-37.

Denver regrouped in the final stages of the first half and got to within 53-46 at the break. Pietrus topped all players with 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting through the first two periods.

Game Notes:
