Billups And Richardson Named NBA Players Of The Week

New York, NY -- Detroit Pistons guard Chauncey Billups and Golden State Warriors swingman Jason Richardson were selected as the NBA Players of the Week on Monday.Billups earned the award after averaging 25.5 points and 6.3 assists while shooting 58 percent in leading Detroit to a 4-0 mark last week. He tied his season high with 32 points and made a career-high 15 free throws during a 102-95 win over Seattle on March 16. Richardson garnered Western Conference honors with three double-doubles last week. He averaged 24 points, 10.3 rebounds and 4.7 assists during the week, which included a 40-point effort in a 100-97 win over Sacramento on March 17. Other nominees in the Eastern Conference included Boston's Ricky Davis, Cleveland's LeBron James, New Jersey's Vince Carter, Washington's Gilbert Arenas and Miami's Shaquille O'Neal and Dwyane Wade. Western Conference nominees included Denver's Earl Boykins, Minnesota's Kevin Garnett, Seattle's Rashard Lewis and Golden State teammates Baron Davis and Troy Murphy.
