SAN FRANCISCO (BCN and KTVU) - One woman died and three people were displaced in the three-alarm fire that started late Saturday night in the Inner Sunset District, San Francisco Fire Department officials said Sunday morning.

A nephew of the woman killed in the fire identified her as Jessica Castro. He said she was a loving mother and grandmother who lived in the Sunset District for decades. Neighbors described Castro as "friendly and lively." They said she was a fixture in the neighborhood.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. One firefighter suffered an injury described as not life-threatening.

The fire was contained just before 12:10 a.m. Fire crews will be at the scene throughout the morning to ensure safety of the scene and maintain a fire watch.

Fire officials said the fire started at 9:48 p.m. Saturday, and involved one building that has three addresses: 1806, 1808 and 1810 8th Ave., near Noriega Street and about six blocks south of Golden Gate Park.

More than 100 firefighters were on the scene a little more than one hour into the blaze, firefighter officials said Saturday night. Fire officials announced that the fire had been "held" to the address at 1808 and 1810 8th Ave. just after 11:15 p.m. Saturday.

Buildings in the area were evacuated. Fire officials didn't say if those evacuations have been lifted as of early Sunday morning.

The Red Cross Bay Area is assisting the people who were displaced, two of whom are out of the country, according to fire officials.
