NAPA COUNTY, Calif. (BCN) - The 114-acre Canyon Fire in northern Napa County is now 85 percent contained, Cal Fire said.
There initially was a 30-acre fire and a 2-acre fire a quarter-mile away in dry brush and pockets of timber on both sides of Berryessa Knoxville Road and state Highway 128 the in Capell Valley area in northern Napa County, a Cal Fire spokeswoman Suzie Blankenship said.
Mandatory evacuations were in effect, but are now only an advisory. That advisory is for along the highway between Turtle Rock and the Sommerston Estate Winery, located at 3450 Sage Canyon Road, and evacuations are advised between Turtle Rock and Capell Valley Crest, Cal Fire said.
State Highway 128 is closed between Capell Valley Crest and Sommerston Estate Winery, Cal Fire said.
The Canyon Fire was reported at 12:57 p.m. at the highway, also known as Sage Canyon Road, and Berryessa Knoxville Road, Cal Fire said.
About 270 firefighters have responded to the Canyon Fire, Cal Fire spokeswoman Suzie Blankenship said. The cause is under investigation.
Officials say there has been at least one minor injury.
Road closures also include Sage Canyon Road at Lower Chiles Valley Road, Highway 128 to Moskowite Corner and Knoxville Road at Spanish Flats, the Napa County Sheriff's Office said.
