Still To Be Charged With An Offense

An Algerian pilot suspected of training some of the Sept. 11 suicide hijackers has been ordered detained for another month.
Lotfi Raissi, 27, appeared briefly in a London court today. He was arrested in England last month on an American warrant alleging he gave false information on an application for a pilot's license.
He has not been formally charged with any offense, but prosecutors have said he is suspected of being the lead flight instructor for the hijackers of the American Airlines flight that crashed into the Pentagon.
Prosecutors have said Raissi flew from Las Vegas to Phoenix in June with a man they believe was one of the hijackers.
Raissi did not speak during today's court appearance. According to CNN.com, Raissi's lawyer made no application for bail, and pointed out that Raissi was on trial only for perjury.
He demanded that any more serious case against Raissi be made quickly, so Raissi "knows where he stands."
Raissi has denied any connection to terrorism. The United States is ordering his extradition.
