Richmond Man Fatally Struck By Amtrak Train

RICHMOND -- A 51-year-old man was struck and killed by an Amtrak train as he walked along the railroad tracks in Richmond Monday evening, Richmond Police Lt. Mike Gormley said. "The engineer said the subject was holding an umbrella as he walked down the tracks," Gormley said. "The engineer blew the horn but it had no effect." The man, a Richmond resident, was hit by the train at 5:02 p.m. and died at the scene. His identity has not yet been released.
