SANTA CLARA -- A Santa Clara Fire Department spokeswoman confirms that a four-alarm fire is burning in the area of Montague Expressway near Lick Mill Boulevard and Moreland Way. San Jose Fire Department Alberto Olmos says approximately two dozen San Jose firefighters have been sent to the scene as part of the county's mutual aid system because of the fire's large size. San Jose received a request for aid at approximately 2:20 p.m., Olmos said. The residences were still under construction and had no one living there. Authorities have not said whether anyone was working at the site when the fire broke out. The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department says traffic is being diverted away from the fire just north of San Jose International Airport. Authorities say the airport and a shopping complex next to the condos have not been affected. No additional details about the fire are immediately available.
