PETALUMA -- Police arrested the owner of two Rottweilers on Tuesday night in connection with the dogs' attack on a 7-year-old boy in April. Kieran Thomas Burns, 50, was arrested on four felony counts of allowing mischievous animals to be at large causing bodily injury. Burns posted $20,000 bond after his arrest at 9:40 p.m. and was released from the Sonoma County Jail. No court date for his arraignment has been set. The dogs attacked Roberto Kampfner Jr. as he was walking with his father in the 700 block of El Paseo Drive on April 29. Roberto Kampfner lifted his son up and shielded him during the attack but the boy suffered 20 deep tear wounds to his legs, Petaluma Animal Services said. The dogs attacked an Irish setter in May 2005 and nipped a girl in the ankle in August 2006, senior animal control officer Jeff Charter said. Neither the male or female Rottweiler was neutered and the dogs seemed to have a propensity to go after children, Charter said.
