Posted: 8:46 am PDT August 23, 2007Updated: 9:45 am PDT August 23, 2007

A Los Angeles man was in the Sonoma County Jail Thursday after the California Highway Patrol allegedly found 20,000 doses of the date rape drug GHB in his vehicle.

The California Highway Patrol said Daniel Paul Gertz, 37, was stopped for speeding on southbound U.S. Highway 101 just south of Canyon Road near Geyserville around 3:20 p.m. Wednesday.

Gertz presented a fraudulent driver's license and during a search of his vehicle a CHP officer found a small amount of marijuana and hash, a marijuana cigarette and three gallons of GHB equivalent to 20,000 doses, the CHP said.

Drug Enforcement Administration agents were called to the scene and helped investigate. Gertz was booked under no bail in the county jail on the drug charges and for a violation of his probation, the CHP said.
