SAN FRANCISCO -- The tracks have been cleared at the San Francisco Powell Station Tuesday night after a Bay Area Rapid Transit train struck and killed a person, said spokesman Linton Johnson. Just before 6 p.m., witnesses reported seeing the victim sit in the track way, said Johnson. The station was shut down and trains were turned around or passed through the station without stopping for a few hours. The body of the victim was removed from the tracks at about 7 p.m., according to Johnson. The train was moved from the station at 7:18 p.m.
