SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento police are lauding the actions of an officer after he shot a man who took a pharmacy worker hostage. Police say Matthew Rosatelli was holding a large knife against the woman's throat when the officer fired, striking him in the face. Police say the assailant attacked the 25-year-old assistant at the Rite Aid pharmacy and assaulted a pharmacist who came to her aid. Both suffered minor injuries. Rosatelli remains in serious condition at a Sacramento hospital but is expected to survive. The 24-year-old man's father says his son has been taking medication for depression.
