SACRAMENTO -- A former California parole agent has been sentenced to six months of home confinement for groping a woman he was supervising. The U.S. attorney's office in Sacramento says Ronald Travis of Elk Grove also was fined $2,000 and ordered to perform 50 hours of community service. He pleaded guilty in November to depriving the parolee of her rights under the color of law, which is a misdemeanor under federal civil rights law. The 56-year-old Travis admitted he kissed, groped and fondled the parolee on several occasions in May and June 2005. Assistant U.S. Attorney Benjamin Wagner says the woman did not resist because she feared Travis would use his authority against her. Travis no longer works for the state corrections department.
