SAN FRANCISCO -- A former elite cyclist has pleaded not guilty again to lying to a grand jury about using steroids. A grand jury handed down a new indictment against Tammy Thomas on Tuesday with five counts of perjury -- two more than previously alleged -- and an obstruction charge. She pleaded not guilty Wednesday. A federal judge previously ordered prosecutors to revise Thomas' indictment because the judge found too many of the cyclist's alleged lies were lumped into too few charges. The new indictment contains the same core allegations against Thomas. Thomas is due back in court later Wednesday to ask a judge to toss out the charges.
