NAPA, Calif. -- A Napa County Sheriff's Department deputy faces more surgery after his patrol car crashed with another sheriff deputy's vehicle en route to a report of a stabbing over the weekend, the Napa County Sheriff's Department said Monday. Sheriff's Capt. John Robertson said Deputy Steven Paris, 32, of Napa, suffered a broken right leg and foot in the 12:02 a.m. crash Saturday. Paris was scheduled for more X-rays today at Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa, Robertson said. Bryon Kramer, 18, of American Canyon, who was a "citizen ride-along" in Paris' car, suffered a fractured wrist and pelvis and is being treated as an outpatient, Robertson said. The other deputy, Bryan Sardoch, 28, of Napa, was treated for minor injuries at the Queen of the Valley Medical Center and was released, Robertson said. The deputies' patrol cars collided on state Highway 29 north of Pratt Avenue in St. Helena. Paris lost control of his car, which caught fire after striking a tree and a large rock, according to the California Highway Patrol. It ripped in half while spinning across the highway, the CHP said. Sardoch's patrol car was unable to avoid a collision with Paris' vehicle but Sardoch was able to remove Paris and Kramer from the patrol car, the CHP said. The CHP is investigating the incident. Robertson said the deputies were responding to a report around 11:55 p.m. Friday of a multiple stabbing incident at the Bothe State Park in unincorporated Napa County. The deputy who responded to the stabbing report found Shaun Hurley, 19, of Napa, at a campsite suffering from stab wounds in his arm, back and neck, Robertson said. Timothy Denver, 52, of Napa was found unconscious, Robertson said, and the deputy determined that Denver and Hurley's 47-year-old brother Michael Hurley got in a fight and Denver stabbed Shaun Hurley when he tried to intervene. Michael Hurley then assaulted Denver, Robertson said. Michael Hurley fled but was arrested in the park a short time later, Robertson said. Denver was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and Michael Hurley was arrested for assault, resisting arrest and violation of probation, Robertson said. Denver was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital and Shaun Hurley was taken to St. Helena Hospital, Robertson said. All three men had been drinking alcohol, Robertson said.
