OAKLAND -- Police Monday released the identities of a man and woman found fatally shot Saturday in an apartment in the 1800 block of East 25th Street. Officers responded to the area at 11:17 a.m. after receiving a phone call, notifying them that two people were dead inside the apartment, Oakland police spokesman Roland Holmgren reported. Upon arrival, officers forced their way into the apartment and located 33-year-old William Thomas Clark Jr. and 27-year-old Leticia Thomas, both of Oakland. Holmgren said Clark and Thomas had both suffered gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are investigating whether the shooting may have been a double homicide or a murder-suicide, according to police. Oakland police Lt. Ersie Joyner said today that police are awaiting an official ruling from Alameda County coroner's bureau. Anyone with information regarding the case is urged to call Oakland police Detective Todd Crutchfield at (510) 238-3821.
