SAN JOSE, Calif. -- A two-alarm fire Tuesday night resulted in the discovery of about 200 marijuana plants in a San Jose residence, according to fire Capt. Barry Stallard. The blaze was first reported as an attic fire at 6:40 p.m. at 2318 Shade Tree Lane and a second alarm was quickly called, Stallard said. The fire at the single-story single-family home was under control by 6:50 p.m. and there were no reported injuries, he said. No one was home at the time the fire ignited but firefighters discovered that the residents had been bypassing the electrical meter, Stallard said. San Jose police were called to the scene of the fire when the marijuana plants were discovered and one engine remained at the building to look for hot spots.
