LOS ALTOS -- A registered sex offender has been arrested in Los Altos for allegedly molesting a 5-year-old child inside the child's Los Altos home Friday night, police reported Monday.

Duncan David Reynard, 43, of Los Altos, was arrested Sunday after police obtained a search warrant on Reynard's Los Altos Hills home.

Reynard, who is a registered sex offender from a previous conviction involving lewd and lascivious acts on a juvenile, allegedly befriended the child's family through employment over the course of a year, according to police. He allegedly gained access to the home through that relationship.

Reynard was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on charges of burglary, sexual assault on a minor and violation of probation.
