Shot Motorcycle Rider Identified

UPDATED: 6:06 pm PDT July 20, 2008

The San Francisco medical examiner's office identified 23-year-old Daniel Dennard as the man who was fatally shot Saturday night while on his motorcycle near the city's Silver Terrace neighborhood.

Officers responded to the shooting at about 7:20 p.m. at Bayshore Boulevard and Industrial Street and found the Oakland resident suffering life-threatening gunshot wounds, San Francisco police Sgt. Wilfred Williams said.

Dennard was transported to San Francisco General Hospital and pronounced dead a short time after arriving.

A preliminary investigation indicated Dennard was riding a motorcycle when a suspect pulled up in a vehicle behind him, got out of that vehicle and shot him, Williams said.

The suspect vehicle then fled north on Bayshore Boulevard. No arrests had been announced as of this morning.
