GILROY, Calif. -- A man faces felony child endangerment and gun possession charges after dropping off a 2-year-old boy with a gunshot wound at a Gilroy hospital. Twenty-eight-year-old Michael Guajardo was arraigned on the felony charges Monday and is expected to enter a plea in Santa Clara County court later this week. Authorities believe Guajardo was lying when he told police the child, his girlfriend's son, was shot during a fight with a rival gang member last Thursday. Police say Guajardo's statements didn't match the evidence. Officers found a firearm near the home where Guajardo had been baby-sitting, and he refused to identify the rival gang member. Guajardo drove off after giving hospital staff the name of the boy, who was expected to survive. Police later spotted the man driving back to the hospital with the child's mother.
