SAN FRANCISCO -- Angered by the rude behavior they encountered on their daily commute on San Francisco’s Muni transit system, a pair of high-tech marketing executives decided to take their complaints to the internet six months ago and created the highly popular Munimanners web blog. But they were only known as Muni Lady 1 and Muni Lady 2 to the majority of the readers who logged on to read their rants. That is until Tuesday, when Angelie Agarwal and Julie Hayes stepped out from behind the veil of the web and for the first time talked publicly about their blog on KTVU’s Mornings on 2.“We happen to work together and lived in the city,” Agarwal said. “We were on a shopping trip after work when we both were surprised to encounter an overzealous Muni rider who was more than comfortable pushing his way through the crowd. He practically knocked us out of our high heels. We looked at each other and said there need to be some rules for behavior on the Muni.”Once they began to look for rude behavior during their commute, they discovered plenty.“We see it every day,“ Hayes said.Among the biggest violations of etiquette by Muni riders, the women said, were passengers not stowing away carry-on items properly, bringing foul smelling food onboard, putting their feet up on the seats and not exiting and entering properly. The women said they stayed anonymous until Tuesday so they could observe commuter behavior without being recognized.“When we first started the blog we wanted the focus to be on the rules,” Agarwal said. “We didn’t want people to alter their behavior if they recognized who was writing about the Muni. As time went by and we built up a readership, it wasn’t as important to us to enjoy the intrigue and mystery behind it.”
