SAN FRANCISCO -- San Francisco police early Wednesday morning arrested an East Bay man who they say kidnapped a woman in Oakland overnight and brought her to San Francisco to work as a prostitute. Anthony Frazier, 29, was arrested in the area of Bush and Larkin streets at about 2:30 a.m., according to police spokeswoman Sgt. Lyn Tomioka. Tomioka said that earlier that night, Frazier had forced the 20-year-old woman into a car in Oakland and drove her to San Francisco to work as a prostitute. Police spotted the woman on the street, "thought she was too young to be standing there alone," and stopped to check on her, Tomioka said. "She described that (Frazier) had brought her to San Francisco to earn money for him, and he told her what he expected her to do, but she just stood there, and that's when police found her," Tomioka said. The woman gave officers a description of the vehicle she was forced into and police detained Frazier nearby, Tomioka said. He was booked into jail on charges of kidnapping, false imprisonment and pimping. The woman was returned home safely, Tomioka said. Others who may have been similarly victimized are asked to contact the San Francisco Police Department's public affairs office at (415) 553-1651 or the anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444.
