Woman Found Dead On Monterey County Roadside Identified

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. -- The Monterey County Sheriff's Office today identified the victim of an apparent homicide whose body was found east of Salinas Thursday morning as 28-year-old Shawna Elaine Marquez. Deputies went to the area of 96 Zabala Road in unincorporated Monterey County around 4:15 a.m. after a motorist reported seeing a body on the side of the roadway, according to the sheriff's office. Marquez had sustained serious blunt trauma wounds to her head and face, the sheriff's office reported. Marquez, a transient out of Salinas, was last seen Wednesday night.
