High-Speed Chase Ends In Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting

A man was shot and killed in an officer-involved shooting Sunday night after he led police on a high-speed chase in Contra Costa County.

Contra Costa Sheriff’s Department spokesman Jimmy Lee said the incident began about 7 p.m. when Pittsburgh police officers were called to a home on Jensen Circle.

An incident occurred at the home and a man bolted from police, triggering a high-speed chase.

The pursuit ended about 7:35 p.m. in the 9000 block of Carquinez Scenic Dr. in Port Costa where a confrontation of some kind took place and Pittsburgh officers fired at the man.

Lee said he was rushed to a local hospital and was pronounced dead a short time later.

Additional details of the shooting were expected to be released later Monday. The identity of the name was not released.
