Oakley Woman Killed, Another Injured In Crash Near Byron

CONTRA COSTA CO. -- An Oakley woman is reportedly dead after a head-on collision Friday night near Byron, according to authorities. The California Highway Patrol said a silver Toyota Camry drifted out of its lane and struck a blue Ford Explorer at about 7:15 p.m. on North Vasco Road just south of Camino Diablo.Authorities say a 25-year-old woman from Oakley was driving the Toyota and died in the crash.The other driver, a 72-year-old woman from Brentwood, was airlifted to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek. North Vasco Road was closed in both directions while police investigated the crash, but has since reopened.
