For the third year in a row, Leonard Oats was declared winner of the only-in-San Francisco Muni Cable Car Bell Ringing contest.

The 47th annual event was held at noon Tuesday in Union Square.

Oats, a cable car crew member who also came in first in 2007 and 2008, was followed by Frank Ware in second place and Howard Woo in third place, according to San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency spokesman Judson True.

In the amateur division, Scotty B of KOIT came in first while Janelle Wang of ABC Channel 7 claimed second place and Aaron Jones of KBLX came in third.

Oats received a grand prize bell for his victory and other prizes earned Tuesday included hotel stays, dinners and other gift certificates.
