Highway Reopens After Separate Solano County Collisions

A two-vehicle crash that occurred in Solano county late Saturday and blocked state Highway 12 for more than an hour and sent four people to hospitals with major injuries, though none of them were fatal as first reports indicated, a CHP officer said.

CHP responded to reports of a collision on state Highway 12 east of Shiloh Road at around 11:25 p.m., CHP Officer Nicole Pacheco said.

Fairfield resident Willie Carter, 30, was driving a 2008 Pontiac on westbound Highway 12 with passengers Okema Carter, 33, and 4-year-old son Will, when for unknown reasons he turned in front of oncoming traffic, according to the CHP.

Carter's vehicle collided head-on with a 2004 Buick driven by Angela Fiesler, 29, of Rio Vista.

A CHP helicopter transported 4-year-old Will Carter to UC Davis Medical Center with major injuries, according to the CHP. Another helicopter was needed to transport Fiesler to John Muir Medical Center who also sustained major injuries.

Willie and Okema Carter were taken by ground ambulance to Northbay Hospital with moderate injuries.

A Sig-alert was issued at 11:50 p.m. Friday and canceled when the roadway was cleared this morning at around 1:15 a.m.
