SAN RAFAEL -- Police were investigating a home invasion robbery that occurred early Monday, the second such incident at the same apartment in the past week, and investigators believe the same suspects are responsible for both robberies. At about 2:50 a.m., a robbery was reported on Canal Street, according to police. Investigators determined that five suspects forced their way into an apartment and robbed the six occupants at gunpoint, police said. All five suspects had either rifles, shotguns, or handguns, and forced the victims to lay facedown while they ransacked the apartment, according to police. The suspects stole cell phones, money, and electronic equipment before fleeing the apartment. They were last seen running down Harbor Street from Canal Street, police said. A victim was injured after following the suspects out onto Canal Street where he was beaten with a rifle, according to police. The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics. Officers checked the area but did not locate the suspects. The same apartment was robbed on Wednesday, and the victims said both robberies were carried out by the same suspects, according to police.
