Violent Friday Night: 1 Killed, 4 Injured In Separate SF Shootings

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- A teenager was killed and four others injured in three separate shootings that took place in San Francisco on a particularly violent Friday night. Officers responded to reports of shots fired in the area of McAllister and Laguna streets around 11:20 p.m., police said. Arriving officers and medical personnel found two victims shot. Both were taken to an area hospital. Xavier Gillette, 17, was pronounced dead at the hospital, the medical examiner's office reported. The other victim was listed in serious condition but is expected to survive, police said. Suspect information was not immediately available.Earlier in the evening, another shooting took place at about 7:50 p.m. in the area of Market and Eighth streets, according to police. In that incident, a male victim suffered a gunshot wound and is expected to survive, police said. One person was detained for questioning in connection with that shooting. Still earlier, police said two men were injured when gunfire broke out at about 7:25 p.m. in the area of Arkansas and Madera streets in the Potrero Hill neighborhood. One victim is expected to survive and the condition of the second victim wasn't immediately available. Police said no arrests have been made in connection with that shooting.
