San Francisco activist Rose Pak has died

- San Francisco political activist Rose Pak has died, multiple sources confirmed on Sunday.

Pak was 68 or 69 years old and had been battling kidney failure, although it is not clear what the cause of death is. 

Pak's political influence includes being involved in thee nomination of San Francisco mayor Edwin Lee as the first Asian American mayor of the city. 

Pak is also known for her advocacy for the Chinatown community.

She grew up as a refugee in Macau and Hong Kong and later worked as a reporter for The San Francisco Chronicle in the 1970s. 

Pak returned to San Francisco in 2016 after a long stay in China to assist with her ongoing health issues.
