ALAMEDA CO. -- BART trains are running on time again Sunday afternoon following a probable suicide on the tracks at the Union City station that slowed down trains in the East Bay earlier in the morning, a spokesman said. A man was fatally struck on the tracks at about 9:15 a.m., causing delays of up to 35 minutes on trains between the South Hayward and Fremont stations, BART spokesman Linton Johnson said.He said the death appears to be a suicide, and the train operator will be placed on paid administrative leave per standard procedure while the incident is investigated.
