DALY CITY, Calif. -- Power has been restored to the more than 6,800 Pacific Gas and Electric Co. customers affected by an outage late Monday afternoon in northern Daly City and southern parts of San Francisco, a utility spokesman said. The outage happened at about 4:45 p.m. and was caused by underground equipment failure in the area of Bayshore Boulevard and Geneva Avenue, said PG&E spokesman J.D. Guidi. He said smoke was seen coming from a manhole in the area but that there was no underground fire. The outage affected 6,811 customers at its peak and 6,350 customers remained without power as of about 6 p.m. Power was completely restored at 6:52 p.m., Guidi said.
