CUPERTINO, Calif. -- A bicyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle near De Anza College in Cupertino Tuesday morning, a Santa Clara County sheriff's sergeant said. The bicyclist, a man in his 70s, was hit at about 9:15 a.m. by a vehicle that was turning into the campus from eastbound Stevens Canyon Road, Sgt. Rick Sung said. A woman who saw the crash immediately ran to the victim and administered CPR, and a responding sheriff's deputy took over resuscitation efforts, Sung said. The victim was then taken to Stanford Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Sung said the driver, a man in his 20s who attends De Anza College, stopped at the scene of the crash and that no arrest was made. There is a bicycle lane on Stevens Canyon Road, but Sung did not know whether the victim was riding in the bike lane at the time of the crash. The collision remains under investigation.
