Santa Rosa Man Pleads Not Guilty To Raping Disabled Woman

A transient accused of raping a 55-year-old developmentally disabled woman in her mother's home on Thursday pleaded not guilty in Sonoma County Superior Court Monday afternoon.

Socorro Reyes Zamudio, 31, pleaded not guilty to rape by force and raping a person unable to give legal consent because of a developmental disability.

He is being held on $200,000 bail in Sonoma County jail and will return to court for a settlement conference on March 26.

Zamudio was acquainted with the victim's mother, had lived with her and her daughter previously and had been staying at her home for about a week before the rape, police said.
