PACIFICA (BCN)-- Jewelry, laptops, tablets and other electronics were stolen Monday in Pacifica in five home burglaries that appear to be connected, police said today.
All the burglaries occurred between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. and at least three of the five were in the same area.
At 12:55 p.m., officers went to the 200 block of Stanley Avenue following a report by someone who said they saw two people running with some things from the backyard of a home, according to police.
Officers found that a rear glass door to a home had been broken and the home's residents told police some items were taken.
A witness told officers the suspects appeared to have been black men in their 20s with medium builds wearing black hooded sweatshirts, police said.
About 25 minutes later, officers went to the 1000 block of View Way where a resident told police at least one room in their home had been ransacked and electronics and jewelry taken.
In the area, a surveillance camera captured the image of a vehicle that police believe was involved in the burglary. Police described it as a dark blue or gray compact SUV such as newer model Toyota RAV4 or Nissan
Police said other burglaries were reported at another home in the 1000 block of View Way, in the 700 block of Montezuma Drive and in the 1000 block of Manzanita Drive.
The burglars in each case got into the home through a rear window or door, according to police.
Capt. Joe Spanheimer said five burglaries is a lot for one day in Pacifica. He said police will be conducting more directed enforcement among other tactics in response to the thefts.
Police are encouraging residents to be alert for unfamiliar people or vehicles in their neighborhoods and immediately call police to report someone or something suspicious.
Detectives are following leads and working with other law enforcement agencies on each of the burglaries.
